GROUND.

GROUND is a choreographic exploration of the forces that root us, pull us together, and drive us apart. In this work, choreographer Caroline Laurin-Beaucage investigates gravity not only as a physical phenomenon but as a metaphor for human connection — the invisible force that shapes our relationships, impulses, and shared existence.

On stage, five dancers are caught in a continuous cycle of resonance and resistance, responding instinctively to one another’s movements. Their bodies absorb and deflect energy, creating a complex choreography that oscillates between unity and isolation. Each motion ripples through the ensemble, transforming the stage into a living, breathing organism — an ever-shifting landscape of tension, empathy, and surrender.

With cinematic precision, Laurin-Beaucage fractures time and space, allowing the viewer to experience the elasticity of human connection. Light, sound, and rhythm become extensions of the dancers’ bodies, exposing what lies beneath the surface: instinctive gestures, fleeting desires, and the unconscious need for belonging. The group’s movements evoke the physical and emotional gravity that keeps us grounded, even as we long to break free.

GROUND invites audiences to witness the human body as both fragile and resilient, individual yet collective. The performance unfolds as a meditation on the nature of togetherness — how we coexist, depend on one another, and shape the invisible social body we inhabit. Obsessive, hypnotic, and deeply evocative, GROUND reminds us that every gesture of resistance carries within it the pulse of connection.
