Habiter nos mémoires.
With Habiter nos mémoires, choreographer and dancer Caroline Laurin-Beaucage continues her exploration of physical truth through a collective reimagining of her emblematic project Habiter sa mémoire. Set on the Esplanade de la Place des Arts in the heart of Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles, eight women from diverse generations and artistic backgrounds—each a dancer and creator—take turns performing solos inside a transparent cube.
Over three days, for one hour each, these performers revisit their personal histories as both dancers and women, weaving 24 hours of movement, memory, and emotion into a living archive. Complementing the live performance, audiences can access recorded reflections, sensations, and memories shared by the artists through their phones.
In this choreographic marathon, the boundary between creation and performance dissolves—presence itself becomes an act of art. Habiter nos mémoires transforms the public space into a site of shared introspection, inviting viewers to reflect on time, memory, and the body in motion.
