REBO(U)ND.
REBO(U)ND is a striking choreography of suspension — an architectural video projection that captures bodies caught in the fleeting moment between rising and falling. Conceived by choreographer Caroline Laurin-Beaucage in collaboration with Montréal Danse, Lorganisme, and Hub Studio, this interdisciplinary creation merges dance, architecture, and digital art into a captivating visual experience. Supported by the Canada Council for the Arts as part of its New Chapter Initiative, REBO(U)ND reimagines the relationship between movement and space, freeing dance from the confines of the stage.
Projected onto urban facades, the piece transforms buildings into vast canvases where the human body hovers between momentum and gravity. Dancers appear to float in slow motion — suspended in an ephemeral balance between freedom and fragility, presence and disappearance. Through this interplay of projection, light, and architecture, Laurin-Beaucage magnifies the instant when control gives way to surrender, and motion transcends its physical boundaries.
REBO(U)ND invites audiences to experience dance beyond traditional venues — in the open air, on city streets, and in shared public spaces. Using video mapping technology, the work alters perception, distorting time, gravity, and scale to heighten our sensory awareness. Whether seen in a brief moment of awe or in prolonged contemplation, the performance becomes a meditation on weightlessness, release, and the profound beauty of the body in suspension.
At once poetic and architectural, REBO(U)ND celebrates dance as an art form of liberation — one that invites us to look up, breathe, and feel the exhilarating tension between falling and flight.
