Portuguese-born Liliana Barros is an Independent dancer and choreographer based in Germany. Her choreographic works are described by a strong and intense scenic atmosphere. Highly visual, her work is characterized by the idiosyncratic aesthetics and movement language. Visceral and archaic combined with elegant plasticity and use of technical elements in a somewhat deconstructed form. Liliana has created several commissioned work for dance companies like NationalTheater Mannheim (GAIA, 2019), Ballet des Saarländisches Staatstheaters (My name is Legion, 2017), Junges Staatstheater Braunschweig (Funkelfuchs, 2018), Gauthier Dance Company (IN TANDEM, 2020), MiR Dance Company (PANORAMA , 2021), Dance Company Osnabruck (HIGH RELIEF, 2021), Netherlands Dance Theater 2 (GROTTO, 2022) and for TanzKassel, at Staatstheater Kassel (100Years 100Hearts_ Sleeping Beauty). Her very acclaimed solo piece NERVURE won several prizes at the SOLOCOREOGRAFICO Dance Show Turin and at the CICC competition in Copenhagen. NERVURE has been invited to Frankfurt, the Lucky Trimmer Festival at Sophiensælen and Dock 11 Berlin, TanzOFFensive Festival Hannover, DanceWaves Festival Cyprus and the B.OOM Festival in Tawain & Malaysia. 2020 was the debut of her digital dance project INERTIA supported by the NATIONAL PERFORMANCE NETWORK – STEPPING OUT, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as part of the NEUSTART KULTUR initiative. For her independent productions such as MEMORABILIA ( 2019) and TECHNO FAUNA (2021), Liliana has been regularly supported from the state of Lower Saxony and various German foundations. TECHNO FAUNA was nominated with a Prize by the Foundation of Lower Saxony in 2022 as one of the most outstanding productions of independent theatre in Lower Saxony, Germany, and presented at the BestOFF Festival in Hannover.
